Academic Research

I pursue two main lines of research. My first concentration is the study of inequalities, health disparities, and family dynamics within the LGBT+ community.

I am also an American Sociological Association award-winning scholar of teaching and learning, specializing in the study of pedagogical practices that promote equity and inclusion in higher education.

My research has been published in The Sociological Quarterly, Teaching Sociology, Sociology of Mental Health, Sociology Compass, and elsewhere.

My forthcoming book titled The Future of Marriage: The Changing Landscape of Gender, Sexuality, and Family is under contract at Rowman and Littlefield.
